
I was the youngest student to graduate from Griffith University at just 20 years old. After graduating with a Bachelor of Multimedia, I went on to complete an internship with niche telecommunications platform developer, Salomon Goldblatt Stein Telecom, gaining valuable experience in wholesale telecommunications.
Around this time, Australia's telecommunications market, once dominated by a single Government-owned carrier, had been deregulated and opened to competition. Several new telecommunications providers emerged, and I was offered a junior role with a new telco.
After three years with this company, their ownership changed hands four times in six months, and I was offered a number of outside roles with other companies.
Instead of taking a new role, I decided to start my own telecommunications consultancy, allowing me to work on contract to multiple clients.
Over the next ten years, this flourished into a growing enterprise, consulting to some of Australia's leading telecommunications companies and call centres. In 2004, I sold Xtol Digital to Salomon Goldblatt Stein Telecom AG.
Between 2004 and 2006, I started a new company which again leveraged another growth market in Australia: internet access and wireless services.

During my school years, I was part of the cricket, soccer and rugby teams, and I continued with sports until 1994. In 1994, I was involved in a semi-finals rugby game, and was badly injured.
During the game, it started to rain, and I was tackled by two opposition players. Landing on my back, I watched in slow motion as one player fell on top of me, and a second player crashed in on both of us.
Unable to get up, I knew I was hurt. After the coaches tried to move me, they realised I was seriously injured and called for an ambulance. The next thing I recall was waking up in hospital three days later, again unable to move.
I was told that my hip was broken in four places, as well as having spinal damage and a knee reconstruction.
Long story short, I spent a year in hospital with various operations, physiotherapy, and the like, being pinned, plated, bolted, and learning to walk again.
During this time, I was unable to work, immobile, and gaining weight.
By 1996, two years later, I was able to walk and by 1997, I was able to return to a fairly normal life. |

Between 1996 and 2005, I had put on a lot of weight. Working as a computer programmer kept me in front of a computer 70 hours a week, and my injuries and surgeries meant I was unable to complete an active excercise routine.
After trying many diet plans and nutritional services, I had largely given up on ever returning to my sporting life.
